about

"I think I made my first beat in 2006 in my buddies basement. Since then I've been trying not to suck. I thought I might release a tape with some of my the ones that don't suck. You might have heard some of them, who knows lol. They span from my first beat up until 2018 or so, to when I started working with illect. Hope you like them!"

---

*note for those who will listen with their kids:

One of the tracks (a very early beat of mine) samples an episode of Fresh Prince of Bel-Aire (the one where Will's dad shows up and then leaves him again at the end). I sample part of Will's speech at the end, in which he says "damn" and "to hell with him".

For that reason, I added "(explicit)" to the name of the track.
In all honesty, I would likely go about that sample differently now, but I'm unable to edit it at this point, and it's a little glimpse into where I was at those years ago.

It is a very real depiction of how the song feels, and how kids might feel when their dads leave. I was one of those kids, and that episode has always connected with me. So, while I would avoid the explicit portions of the sample if I was doing it now, I thought I would add that warning/explanation.
